Narrated by Muslim Dear traveler, Welcome to your second country, the Sultanate of Oman, and we are pleased to offer this guide by which you could know about prohibited and restricted goods and exemptions from customs taxes and duties in order to facilitate your entry to the Sultanate of Oman, and to help you complete your customs transactions In less time and with high efficiency. We also wish to point out that the clearance of restricted goods requires obtaining approvals from some ministries and other government agencies. - Dear traveler (arriving and departing) you should declare carried on Currencies and Bearer securities, or banknotes, or precious metals or gemstones convertible into cash, which exceed (6000 riyals) six thousand riyals.
- Dear traveler the verbal, written or electronic declaration or going through the green or red channel shall be considered as declaration by traveler for the goods he carries.
- Dear traveler in your good intention avoids carrying goods or bags belong to others that may expose you to legal accountability.
The passenger shall be entitled to a customs exemption for the goods carried according to the following conditions :
- The value of the gifts do not exceed 300 riyals.
- Electronic goods and household appliances in non-commercial quantities.
- A number of cigarettes up to four hundred 400 cigarettes.
- Alcoholics not exceeding 2 liters of wine, and 48 cans of beer for non-Muslims. Muslims are not allowed.
- The traveler should not be of the kind frequently passing the customs territory.
Dear traveler: The obstruction of customs officials from carrying out their duties and conducting their right to inspect is illegal and will be punishable in accordance with the provisions of Article (30) of the Executive Regulations of the Common Customs Law of the GCC. Customs officers have the right to inspect the luggage of passengers in all lanes. In case of attempting to enter prohibited or restricted goods into the Sultanate of Oman in violation of law, it shall be considered as smuggling offence according to the provisions of Articles (142-143) of the Common Customs Law of the GCC. Not declaring the cash, traveler's checks or precious metals specified in law, is illegal according to the provisions of Article (53) of the Money Laundering and Terrorism Financing Law
Under the law of mony laundering and its executive regulation, this form must be filled in by whoever carries 6,000 (six thousand) Omani Rials or more, or the equivalent thereof. Click Here
